Greetings, NWPC-VA Members,
It has been my honor to serve as president of the National Women’s Political Caucus of Virginia for the last two years. I have had the good fortune of meeting amazing women from around the state who are passionate about our mission. Those who have decades of experience who provide invaluable wisdom, and those who are just getting started and provide infectious optimism, energy and hope. I think we will all look back on 2022 as being a pivotal year. As we started to emerge from COVID, many of us found ourselves rethinking our lives, our work, our relationships, and our time commitments. We have been reminded often that life is short, and we must do the best we can while we have the chance.
This year was also a painful reminder that time is of the essence when it comes to our most basic rights. Our hard-fought progress can be erased. It takes skill, savvy and foresight to continue advancements while protecting what we have. Here at NWPC-VA we have worked to convene, educate, and empower. You won’t be here forever. I won’t be here forever. But my dream is that while we are here, experiences in Chesapeake can be shared with a leader in Gate City. Skill, savvy and foresight can be taught and fostered. If we want to maintain momentum and protect our gains, it's imperative. In 2023, my wish is that you share and learn from women who are not like you. Reach out and build relationships. Let’s grow together both as committed activists and as the National Women’s Political Caucus of Virginia.
Sending you warm thoughts as you celebrate during this holiday season!
Onward,
Krysta Jones, 2021-2022 President
National Women’s Political Caucus-Virginia
